$17M XRP/USD Robbery: Spouse of Country Icon George Jones Targeted in Digital currency Burglary
What began as a mere doubt regarding infidelity culminated in an arrest for the theft of XRP/USD. Nancy Jones, the widow of the legendary country musician George Jones, claims that her long-time companion, Kirk West, pilfered over $17 million in XRP from her residence in Tennessee.

It’s reported that as concerns about West’s fidelity mounted, Jones enlisted her granddaughter to investigate her finances, only to discover that a Record wallet and $400,000 cash had vanished, with that digital wallet containing over 5.5 million XRP tokens.
Police apprehended West at Nashville International Airport on July 24, coinciding with Franklin police launching their inquiry.
XRP/USD: Alleged Extortion and Partial Reimbursement
According to court filings, West subsequently reached out to Jones and proposed to return merely a fraction of the pilfered assets.
“He claimed he would transfer me $5 million and that was all I would receive,” Jones recalled, as stated in the criminal affidavit.
While Jones managed to reclaim about 5 million XRP, she incurred a deficit of more than 483,000 tokens. West now faces charges for felony theft exceeding $250,000, with his bail set at $1 million.

The theft injects an added layer of intrigue to an already eventful week for Ripple Labs. On July 25, the company released a new report analyzing how stablecoins are influencing the global payments framework.
