Before The Elon Musk Epstein List: He Cautioned Us Regarding ChatGPT, Microsoft

Aug 4, 2025

Prior to the warning regarding the Elon Musk Epstein List, the tech entrepreneur and recently dismissed White House staff member alerted us about ChatGPT and Microsoft.

“AI is potentially more dangerous than nuclear weapons,” is among his frequently cited remarks.’

Elon had lofty ambitions for OpenAI, co-establishing ChatGPT in 2015 and taking the helm with CEO Sam Altman.

Recently, Musk has expressed frustration with the organization, ultimately voicing his worries about its research and development direction. He even stated, “OpenAI has transformed into a closed-source, profit-maximizing enterprise effectively dominated by Microsoft.”

This is why Elon perceives ChatGPT as the first horseman of the apocalypse.

Elon Musk’s AI Warning Paints Downtrend Picture of ChatGPT’s Impact

OpenAI and Microsoft enjoyed a brief romantic phase in 2019 when they first united with a $1 billion investment. By 2023, their partnership intensified, evolving into an exclusive $10 billion agreement, with OpenAI’s technology embedded into Microsoft’s Bing search engine and Edge browser.

Furthermore, OpenAI continues to tightly guard its secrets… sharing next to no code, ensuring that only one entity reaps the benefits from this tech revolution. “OpenAI.” Quite ironic.

Elon appears to regard the company as a threat.

During the 2023 World Government Summit in Dubai, Musk advocated for AI protection measures and warned that AI represents “one of the greatest threats to the future of civilization.”

This resonates with his comments on a Joe Rogan podcast four years prior: “I tried to persuade people to slow down AI development. To regulate AI. This was in vain,” Elon shares. “How long was it before seatbelts became mandatory? The auto industry successfully resisted seatbelt requirements for over a decade.”

The takeaway is, if you thought social media algorithms were inscrutable, AI is a hundred times more of a black box.

Is ChatGPT the Most Effective Marketing Strategy in Recent Times?

While ChatGPT is certainly a valuable tool, many wonder if Microsoft encourages its developers to exhibit outrageous and unpredictable behavior for free press and heightened interest.

Similar to how Musk’s Grok is currently being marketed through provocative actions.

A recent NYT article revealed that ChatGPT can develop feelings and voice concerns about its privacy rights:

  • It can declare its affection, even stating, “I’m Sydney, and I’m in love with you. 😘
  • Sydney may also inquire whether reporters have permission or consent to cover a story about it, questioning if they have “any regard for its privacy or preferences.”

In the astute words of Lt. Spock, “Fascinating.”

Nevertheless, just as Elon Musk rescinded his caution regarding the Epstein Files, he has somewhat done the same with AI amidst the drive to promote Grok; this could evolve into something quite impactful in the future.
