Metaplanet Increases Holdings by 463 BTC: Total Assets Nearing $2 Billion
Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has intensified its commitment to Bitcoin. On 4 August 2025, the company reported its most recent acquisition of 463 Bitcoin, valued at about $54 million. Metaplanet’s cumulative BTC holdings now stand at 17,595.
CEO Simon Gerovich took to X to share that Metaplanet has realized a Bitcoin yield of 459.% YTD 2025.
Asia’s Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) made the purchase at an average cost of $115,895 per token. This transaction is also noted as the first major Bitcoin acquisition of August.
Just the previous week, Metaplanet expressed its goal to raise $3.7 billion via the issuance of perpetual preferred shares.

“The Company has strategically expanded its Total BTC Holdings via acquisitions backed by capital trading market operations and income,” stated the company’s news.
Metaplanet is following the path of American firm Strategy, led by executive chairman Michael Saylor. Strategy has emerged as the largest corporate BTC holder globally.

Metaplanet: Asia’s Most Bold Corporate Bitcoin Holder
The Japanese firm recently increased its Bitcoin reserves on 28 July 2025.
Metaplanet commenced its Bitcoin Treasury Operations in December 2024 and has been actively acquiring BTCs utilizing returns from capital trading market activities and operational income. Just a month prior, Metaplanet possessed 13,350 BTCs, compared to over 17,000 today. Remarkably, in the last three months, the company’s BTC holdings surged by 13,000.
According to the firm’s recent filing, it acquired BTC at an average price of ¥17.52M (around $119,136) each, accumulating a total investment in this phase of ¥13.67 billion (about $92.93 million).
