In a recent interview, Musk stated, “I’m not going to be supporting crypto, at most, in a humorous manner… I do believe there’s value in BTC. I’ve somewhat developed a fondness for Dogecoin because I enjoy dogs and memes.”

This development comes as Musk gears up to introduce X Chat, a fully encrypted messaging service aimed to compete with WhatsApp and Telegram. Anticipated to launch in the near future, the service will integrate seamlessly into X while also serving as a standalone application for users worldwide.

In a recent podcast session, Musk revealed the company has “rebuilt the entire messaging stack” and introduced a peer-to-peer encryption system inspired by Bitcoin’s structure.

“It’s utilizing a peer-to-peer-based encryption system, something akin to Bitcoin. It’s highly effective encryption; we’re testing it rigorously,” Musk mentioned.

It’s Bitcoin, naturally; although in recent times, Musk’s close associates, like Naval Ravikant and Arthur Hayes, have been attempting to convince the billionaire to endorse Zcash, which they refer to as private Bitcoin, over the original crypto asset.

Nonetheless, Musk is a staunch supporter of BTC in practice, and X is set to utilize a model inspired by Bitcoin. According to Musk, X Chat’s design completely eliminates ad hooks, crafting a “clean, secure” communication landscape.

Similar to Bitcoin, X Chat, and the potential payment architecture will utilize peer-to-peer encrypted messages, which will not be stored in corporate vaults.

With WhatsApp commanding 2.8 billion users and Telegram nearing a billion, Musk’s X Chat is taking on giants.

Musk asserts that the upcoming platform will enable texting, file sharing, and audio/video calls, allowing users to interact both within and beyond X’s social framework. The system aspires to replace Twitter’s outdated DM framework with what Musk describes as “the least insecure” messaging application currently available.

“Our aim is to establish a fully encrypted system through which you can text, share files, and engage in audio or video calls,” he mentioned.

While Musk has minimized his direct involvement with cryptocurrencies lately: “If you catch me promoting crypto, it’s not really me,” he noted during a livestream, his appreciation for Bitcoin’s encryption and Dogecoin’s lighthearted spirit undoubtedly shapes both him and X.
