Emirates Airlines Now Accepts Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Payments: Company Teams Up with Crypto.com

On July 9, 2025, Emirates Airlines entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the well-known cryptocurrency platform Crypto.com to allow Emirates customers to utilize crypto asset for their flight and service payments. 

This integration is anticipated to roll out in the last quarter of 2025, implemented in stages. Additionally, all crypto asset transactions will be converted to UAE Dirhams (AED) at the time of payment.

Partnering with Crypto.com for the incorporation of cryptocurrency into our digital payments reflects Emirates’ dedication to adapting to shifting customer demands, while also attracting a younger, tech-savvy demographic that prefers digital currencies,” stated Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer.

Eric Anziani, President and COO of Crypto.com remarked in a company press release, “As we keep expanding the everyday applications for crypto, strategic alliance with outstanding partners like Emirates will create significant momentum for the digital asset crypto market and allow both companies to provide innovative financial solutions for our clientele.”

Strong Government Backing For Emirates Airlines-Crypto.com Partnership

The collaboration between the largest airline in the Middle East was inaugurated with the presence of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline, along with Michael Doersam, Emirates’ Chief Financial and Group Services Officer.

“This strategic initiative aligns with Dubai’s objective to be a leader in financial innovation while providing our customers with increased flexibility and options in transacting with Emirates,” added Kazim.

In the meantime, Crypto.com has been concentrating on the UAE for some time. In March 2025, the firm announced that it received a limited license from Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) to offer derivatives within the UAE. The company is fortifying its presence in the area. Crypto.com has already obtained a Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP) license to operate in the UAE.

Dubai has positioned itself as a frontrunner in digital asset innovation. Notably, the clarity in regulations and a supportive stance towards innovation have attracted numerous crypto asset enterprises.

Tether, the issuer of the stablecoin announced their strategic alliance with Reelly Tech, a Business-to-Business real estate aggregator. This partnership will enable investors in the UAE to pay for real estate purchases using USDT. Recently, the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) approved the use of Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

Additionally, the UAE’s premier financial hub, Abu Dhabi Global Trading market (ADGM), has formed a strategic strategic alliance with Chainlink crypto, a provider of blockchain oracle solutions, to enhance blockchain innovation and regulatory practices.

Through this strategic alliance, both ADGM and LINK ▲2.17% aim to create global standards for distributed record practices and develop compliant frameworks for tokenization while enhancing the usefulness of tokenized assets.
