Eric Trump, the son of US President Donald Trump, has traveled to Japan to participate in Metaplanet’s shareholder meeting after being appointed as an adviser to the firm in March 2025. “I have faith in organizations that exhibit strong leadership. You are fortunate to have a remarkable leader in Simon Gerovich and an outstanding product in Bitcoin,” Eric Trump remarked.

On 1 September 2025, he addressed the audience in Tokyo to back the Japanese BTC treasury company Metaplanet, “as the family of the US president broadens its crypto interests worldwide,” as confirmed by Reuters.

When welcoming Eric Trump as an adviser in March 2025, Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich stated, “His expertise in business and enthusiasm for BTC will propel our mission as we strive to create one of the premier BTC Treasury Companies worldwide.”

The recent acquisition of 1,009 Bitcoin not only boosted the Japanese firm’s treasury to 20,000 Bitcoin but affirmed the Tokyo-listed company as one of the largest Bitcoin holders across the globe.

Japanese Company Surpasses Riot As Asia’s Leading Corporate Holder

On 1 September 2025, Metaplanet CEO addressed followers on protocol X, stating “Metaplanet has acquired 1009 Bitcoin for ~$112.2 million at ~$111,162 per BTC and has achieved a Bitcoin Yield of 486.7% YTD 2025. As of 9/1/2025, we possess 20,000 BTC obtained for ~$2.06 billion at ~$103,138 per BTC.”

The company revealed that the 1,009 Bitcoin acquisition average price was ¥16.33 million per coin ($111,000), amounting to ¥16.48 billion ($112 million).

This recent acquisition drove Metaplanet’s total holding to 20,000 Bitcoin, positioning the firm just above US-listed Riot Platforms on corporate treasury rankings.

Moreover, Metaplanet, saw its stock price soar by 190%. Based on its earnings report published on 13 August 2025, its year-to-date (YTD) earnings significantly outperformed the average profits recorded by the TOPIX Core 30, Japan’s top index that monitors industry leaders like Toyota, Sony, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

Strategy, Metaplanet Now Manage 3.1% Of Bitcoin’s Entire Circulating supply

Two of the most proactive corporate Bitcoin purchasers, Strategy and Metaplanet, have increased their assets, totaling more than 3.1% of the total BTC token supply. As public companies increasingly view BTC as a strategic resource, the token supply dynamics are continuing to evolve in real-time.Strategy, previously known as MicroStrategy, reported purchasing an additional 430 BTC last month for approximately $51.4 million, amounting to roughly $119,666 per crypto token.
