A significant majority of European cryptocurrency users are now prepared to utilize digital currencies for their vacation expenses.
Bitget’s research, which surveyed over 3000 European participants, sheds light on the factors driving the market demand for crypto-enabled travel. According to the findings, 85.32% of those surveyed have either used cryptocurrencies for travel bookings or are currently considering doing so. Notably, the primary intended applications for crypto now encompass everyday expenses, lodging, and transportation. This demonstrates a burgeoning comfort with the use of crypto throughout the travel experience.
On the results, Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, remarked, “Crypto users are not solely interested in holding digital assets; they are actively pursuing practical uses, particularly for a universal experience like travel. The findings showed that stablecoins are the leading choice for payment assets, followed by BTC. Nevertheless, challenges such as limited acceptance from travel service providers remain. An overwhelming 91% still feel that using crypto for holiday payments will become increasingly feasible in the near future.
What drives people to use crypto while traveling? It allows for the avoidance of foreign trading protocol charges, offers quicker transactions while ensuring privacy and anonymity. The research noted, “In addition to financial efficiency, the buyer interest for privacy and anonymity is also seen as a significant motive (42.96%). This viewpoint is particularly pronounced in certain areas, with 44% of German respondents and 51% of Polish respondents highlighting this reason. Interestingly, in Italy, 46% of users are primarily attracted by a widespread fascination with new technologies, reflecting a larger acceptance of innovation as a driver for digital currency use in their travel habits.”
Now, let’s delve into generational preferences. GenZ places a high priority on minimal fees, whereas GenX tends to focus more on loyalty programs and the capability to make payments in remote locations.
