Is Crypto.com Ready to Directly Integrate US Crypto Token ETFs? What Implications Does This Have for the US Crypto Reserve?

Crypto.com collaborates with TMTG of Truth Social to introduce crypto ETFs. Will this enhance the U.S. crypto reserve or ignite controversy?

Shortly after Crypto.com and Cronos Labs sanctioned the minting of 70 billion CRO, the organization is joining forces with Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), the entity behind Truth Social.

Details on the Crypto.com and Truth Social Parent Company Strategic alliance

This preliminary agreement will facilitate the launch of a range of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) under the Truth.fi label. The strategic alliance seeks to diversify TMTG’s offerings into financial services, merging some of the top cryptocurrencies with securities that emphasize American sectors—namely energy, manufacturing, and technology companies.

Based in Singapore, Crypto.com will deliver the essential technology and infrastructure for effective implementation. This encompasses backend technology, custody services, and the required cryptocurrency supply for the ETFs. Its U.S. division, Foris Capital US LLC, will oversee these offerings.

The anticipated crypto assets to feature in the ETFs include BTC (Bitcoin), Cronos (CRO), Ethereum (Ethereum), and various prominent altcoins—potentially even some of the leading Solana meme coins—though the complete lineup is yet to be confirmed.

A specific timeline for the ETF launch remains unspecified. However, indications point to a likely rollout in late 2025, contingent upon receiving regulatory approval from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other relevant authorities. Once operational, these crypto ETFs will be available globally through Crypto.com and various brokerage platforms.

TMTG intends to allocate $250 million to these ETFs as part of finalizing the agreement, with Charles Schwab acting as the custodian for these investments.

This collaboration coincides with World Liberty Financial (WLFI) unveiling a stablecoin on Ethereum and BNB Chain.

The overarching aim of the Trump administration is to clarify regulations surrounding crypto—especially stablecoins—while establishing a U.S. crypto reserve initially supported by existing assets. Concurrently, President Trump underlines the importance of backing American enterprises.

Positive for the Crypto Reserve—or a Setback?

This agreement aligns with the president’s economic strategy. It could indirectly increase buyer interest for Bitcoin, compelling the SEC to expedite approvals for enhancing the crypto reserve’s assets. Consequently, altcoins, including the CRO value, might experience a surge as the likelihood of a CRO ETF is increasing.

While the outlook seems uptrend, critics point out regulatory, ethical, and practical hurdles. Crypto.com has previously faced SEC scrutiny, and some caution that this collaboration might trigger the largest political crypto scandal since the TRUMP token. Legally, U.S. presidents should refrain from business interactions, particularly with foreign entities such as Singapore-based Crypto.com.

Critics also highlight Kris Marszalek’s contentious history prior to founding Crypto.com, often viewing crypto founders as potentially “scammy.”

The inclusion of CRO and the potential for spot ETFs highlights additional practical issues. Despite their significant valuations, spot Ethereum ETFs have faced challenges in gaining traction compared to Bitcoin ETFs.
