Is Robinhood RVI Providing Retail Traders Access to Pre-IPO Wealth?
Robinhood Markets Inc. is boldly echoing its namesake hero’s legacy by restoring financial strength to the everyday trader, one trade at a time.
The firm aims to provide retail traders with access to private enterprises prior to their public debut, in a bid to increase retail involvement in markets that have been largely controlled by institutional investors until now.
In a press release dated 15 September 2025, Robinhood Markets Inc. introduced the RVI (Robinhood Ventures Fund) to the public. The RVI is a closed-ended fund that has submitted a registration application to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Expounding on the update, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev mentioned, “For years, affluent individuals and institutions have been able to invest in private companies, while retail investors have been unjustly excluded.”
Additionally, he remarked, “With Robinhood Ventures, ordinary people will have the chance to invest in prospects once limited to the privileged.”
The trading market conditions in the US are currently shifting. Over the past twenty years, the number of publicly listed companies has decreased from 7000 in 2000 to around 4000 today. In contrast, the private trading market has expanded significantly in size and importance.
